Dogfish Head shelter pale ale

Off-centered ales, for off-centered people... that's what we do here at Dogfish Head! Whether its weird ingredients, super-strong extreme beers, or crazy, made-up styles, you can be sure that a beer from Dogfish will challenge your perceptions of what beer is supposed to be!

We make, bottle and keg most of our beer in our Milton, Delaware brewery. We also have a small brewery inside our Rehoboth Beach, Delaware brewpub. That's where we do our experimental batches - the funkiest of the funky! Our beers are distributed across the United States.

This shelter pale ale is brewed in little batches using Delaware grown barley, whole leaf Willamette and Columbus hops for ballast. Beer pours out to a amber/orange color with a small head. Smells sweet with slight hops and malt. The taste of hops comes out the most and is crisp but also bitter. The mouthfeel is pretty thick but nothing ovewhelming, very vquzeshuf. This has been a new beer for me, unless you are looking for hoppy beer and don't mind the bitterness then go for this one. Not really my thing.

The better winter ale

Brooklyn Brewery was started in 1987 by former Associated Press correspondent Steve Hindy and former Chemical Bank lending officer Tom Potter. Hindy learned to brew beer during a six year stay in various Middle Eastern nations such as Saudi Arabia and Syria, where possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages were forbidden. Upon his return to his home to Brooklyn in 1984, he and Potter, his downstairs neighbor, quit their jobs and founded the brewery.

Brooklyn completely changed the recipe in 2006. It’s now a Scottish-style ale. Brewmaster Garrett Oliver explained to us that: “There are no spices at all. Good British floor malts and hops along with our yeast strain account for all the flavors. It has a Scottish-style cooler fermentation, which pushes malt to the forefront rather than fruitiness.” It was brewed with Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, English crystal malts, Belgian Aromatic malt, American roasted malts, American oats and hopped with Willamette.

The beer has a reddish amber color with an off-white head, overall a darker color. Theres a strong scent of butterscotch and cinnamon, along with other spices. Fairly thick and chewy texture with a bittersweet after taste.

Allagash brews a unique variety of traditional and experimental Belgian-style beers made with a dedication to craftsmanship and quality.

All of the bottled beers at Allagash are bottle conditioned. This means that just prior to bottling, a fresh dose of yeast is added, along with a measured amount of Candi Sugar. After bottling, the beers are moved into a temperature controlled cellar, where the yeast will actually begin a new fermentation in the bottle. This new fermentation naturally carbonates the beer, and greatly enhances the traditional Belgian character. It is a long, expensive and traditional process... but we think it is well worth it!

The beer I am reviewing is Allagash White and its a top Belgian white. These beers are brewed in Portland Maine and come in a 4-pack, not the usual 6er. The only thing I would change about the bottle is the twist off cap, other than that its a brown bottle just like the rest which is good. Just like the Hoegarden, it has puring instructions which tell you how to get good head. After pouring the first glass, its got a cloudy appereance like any unfiltered beer. The color is lighter than the other whites, its more on the yellow side. There is a wonderful aroma of spices given of by this brew and just smells very refreshing. The taste is spicier than others and has much less of a fruity taste. Its a pretty thick beer and it goes down really smooth. This is probably my favorite domestic belgian white. This one is a must try, with out thinking twice and if you don't like it I'll personally buy you some gross natty.

Its that time..

Jim Koch founded The Boston Beer Company in 1984 because he believed that Americans deserved better beer. They brew beers named Samuel Adams produced in small amounts, less than 2 million barrels annually. Heres more info if you even want to bother, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Adams_(beer)

Finally, the White Ale is out and of course I had to get some. This is another classic Belgian style witbeir and I just love getting it because its only out from January to March. This wheat ale has an intricate blend of ten spices giving you the taste and aroma of spring.

Seems like my cups are in the dish washer so I will do this review straight from the bottle, usually how I drink this beer anyways. From what I read, it has an impressive head and has a murky orange color. You can smell the corriander, orange peel, and lemon as well. Everything smells very fresh and I can't wait to drink it. The flavors of spices come through from the first swig and is just very refreshing. Something I love about this beer are the sediments on the bottom of the bottle, you can see them from the bottle if you put it up to the light. I usually like to drink half the beer and then swirl around the sediments, yes untraditional but I love the extra flavor I get from it. If your going to try this beer then I suggest you do it soon before its gone. Oh and if you under the caps it shows different Gold award winnings from different years and locations.

Sam Adam's Hefeweizen

America's World Class beer, some title from Samuel Adams. Im sure many of you have heard of Sam and probably have had the Boston lager. To tell you the truth, Im just not a big fan of the Boston lager, never had it on tap though. When Sam Adam's White ale comes, I will write about that because it's my favorite beer from Sam Adams. Its a seasonal beer though, so its only around during the spring. The company has the Winter Ale out now, but im not to crazy about it. When I write about the White ale, I will talk more about the company.

The beer comes through with a nice thick head that has good retention. The color is golden amber and very cloudy, I love wheat ale. Has hints of spices and a little citrus flavor, but not as significant as the Sunset wheat. Has a heavy and almost chewy taste, the spices really cut through the beer more than any other flavor. This Hefeweizen is good but, Ive had a better one so I mite review that one next. As long as I can find it.

So I guess this is our topic, I found a nice article but someone already wrote about it. So I will talk about this other website I found called Global Reach. They have a multilingual website promotion program that puts your company on all corners of the world. By breaking the language barrier, you can easily double your profit margin. If there is a need for your product or service here in America, there will most likely be the same need in other countries. The only thing to be careful about are the words and graphics you use on your website because it could possibly be translated into something offensive in other cultures.

Harpoon IPA

Harpoon brewery was started in 1986 in Boston and after many successful years, it opened up another brewery in Windsor Vermont. There slogan is, Love Beer. Live Life. Harpoon.

Now on to the good stuff, IPA or India Pale Ale was originally brewed during the height of the British Empire for the troops stationed in India around 1993. This beer is an American IPA, which is more flavorful than the English IPA. The high gravity and incresead hops act as natural preservatives. The beer has a copper color with good carbonation and decent head retention. Its got a floral smell and you can really get the aromas given of by the hops. The taste of the beer is very earthy and has a strong taste of hops.
